Select a dialog box option |
The application sometimes needs additional information before it can carry out a command. You provide this information by selecting options in a dialog box. You can select check boxes or option buttons, type or edit text in a text box, or select items from a list.
Some dialog boxes provide groups of options, each group on a separate tab. For example, the Print Setup’s Properties dialog box (File menu) has the following tabs: Paper, Graphics, Fonts, and Device Options.
To select a tab in a dialog box, click the tab or press CTRL+TAB.
To select or clear options:
Use the mouse: Point to the option button, check box, or list item, and then click the left mouse button.
Use the keyboard: Press TAB to move to a check box or a specific option button in a group (the box or button is enclosed in a dotted box), and then press the SPACEBAR to set or clear the box or button.
To select one option button in a group, press the UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW key until the option you want is selected.
To use the mouse to select an item in a drop-down list box, click the down arrow to display the list and then click the item you want.
To select a number in a spin box, click the up and down arrows to the right of the box until the number you want displays in the box.
